Happy New Year Card Templates 2027 to Print or Edit

A New Year card is one of the few things people still keep. A printed card on the fridge in February is worth more than a hundred "HNY!" messages, and a digital template makes it cheap: buy once, personalise, print as many as you need or send them as images. The catch is that "greeting card template" covers everything from a 1000-pixel social image to a print-ready folded card, and the listing does not always say which one you are buying. Here is how to tell them apart before you pay.

The shelf in numbers (measured on 29 October 2026)

The Cards and Invitations category has 52 active listings. Prices are low and tight: the median is $3.99 and the middle half sits between $1.99 and $3.99. 48% of listings deliver a PDF, roughly 39% deliver JPEG images, and a few ship ZIP archives. Licences lean personal: among listings that state one, 78% are personal and 22% commercial, and 31% of listings state no licence at all. Seasonal artwork for making your own cards lives next door on the Holiday and Seasonal Graphics shelf.

Print card or digital card: the pixel test

This is the single most useful check, and almost nobody does it. Printers work at about 300 pixels per inch. Divide the image width in pixels by 300 and you get the largest size it will print sharply:

Card sizePixels needed at 300 PPI
A6 flat card (105x148 mm)about 1240x1748
5x7 in flat card1500x2100
Square 5.5 in card1650x1650
Instagram post or messenger image1080x1080 is plenty

A 1088x1088 image is perfect for messengers, email and social posts, and prints sharp up to about 9 cm square. That is a lovely small card or a gift tag, not a 5x7. PDF templates built as vector layouts do not have this limit. If a listing calls itself "printable" but only gives a pixel size, do the division before you buy.

Six more things to check

  1. Flat or folded. A folded card needs the front and the inside arranged on the sheet in the right order and orientation. A flat card is simpler and prints well at home.
  2. Editable text. Is "Happy New Year 2027" part of the picture, or can you type your own greeting, names and signature? For cards in your own language this decides everything.
  3. Bleed and margins. Print shops need 3 mm of bleed around the edge; home printers need a margin. Good print files mention one or the other.
  4. Envelope size. 5x7 cards go in A7 envelopes, A6 cards in C6. Buy the envelopes after you know the card size, not before.
  5. Licence. Sending cards to friends is personal use. Sending branded cards to clients, or printing cards to sell, needs a commercial licence. On Getly the licence type sits next to the price.
  6. Honest disclosure. If artwork is AI-generated, a good seller says so. It does not make it bad, but you deserve to know.

Card templates and card-making kits worth a look

Ready digital cards with a 2027 greeting

New Year 2027 Greeting Cards gives you 11 square PNG cards (1088x1088) and 3 animated GIFs with "Happy New Year 2027" lettering in gold, champagne, fireworks and snow, in a minimal, elegant style. They are made first for digital sending: messengers, email headers, social posts. By the pixel test they also print well as small square cards. No real people, brands or logos, commercial licence included, $5.

Build your own card: Year of the Goat clipart

The Chinese New Year of 2027 is the year of the Goat, starting on 6 February 2027, so a goat on the front makes a card that works for both celebrations. New Year 2027 Fire Goat clipart has 50 festive goat and sheep illustrations as transparent PNGs, 1254x1254 each. The seller states the numbers plainly: at 300 PPI the full canvas is about 10.6 cm, these are raster files, not vectors, and the art was made with generative AI and then curated. That is exactly the kind of listing you want: no surprises after the download. Commercial licence, $5.

Backgrounds, envelope liners and inside pages

For the background of a card, an envelope liner or matching gift wrap, 30 Christmas Seamless Patterns offers a coordinated set in gingham, tartan, knit, holly and Nordic stars, delivered as JPG and PNG at 3000x3000 px plus true vector SVG. SVG means you can scale a pattern to any card size without losing sharpness, and recolour it. Commercial use included, $5.99.

Thank-you cards for after the holidays

The second wave of cards comes in January, when children write thank-you notes for their presents. Kids Thank-You Notes Printable has 24 notes in six versions (Christmas, Hanukkah, birthday, teacher, grandparents, any occasion) at two levels: sentence starters for early writers, and draw, circle and trace for those who cannot write yet. Each note is 5.5x4.25 in, two per page, in colour and ink-saver, Letter and A4. Personal licence, $2.

Keeping track of who gets a card

If you send more than a dozen cards, the list is the hard part. Holiday Card List and Address Tracker is an .xlsx workbook with a 150-row contacts sheet (group, address, send yes or no, sent date, card received, card type, postage) and a summary that counts cards to buy, sent and still to send, plus an optional budget box. Blank and sample versions, $4.

Printing at home without frustration

Use matte card stock of 250 to 300 g/m2; glossy photo paper cracks when folded. Set the printer to the highest quality and the correct paper type, print one test sheet, and score the fold line with a blunt knife and a ruler before folding. If you take files to a print shop, ask whether they want a PDF with bleed; a PNG at the right pixel size will usually do for flat cards.

Buying on Getly

Pay by card (Visa, Mastercard, and Apple Pay or Google Pay where available) or with USDT/USDC. Downloads are in your library right after payment and stay there for next year. If a template is not what the listing describes, you can request a refund within the store's refund window (30 days by default); a Getly admin reviews it. The seller keeps 80 to 90% of what you pay. Order in November, and the cards reach people before the year changes, not after.
