TAB TRAIL is a practical accessibility regression kit for developers and small teams working on online stores. Run a Node.js and Playwright command-line scanner powered by axe-core against reachable pages, inspect real JSON, CSV and self-contained HTML findings, and pair the automated output with a focused manual review.

Pinned package.json and lockfile; runnable scanner source; two original storefront fixtures, one intentionally flawed and one corrected; local demo server; real browser smoke test; generated example reports; a twelve-point human check sheet; issue-to-fix guide; README; and single-buyer license. CSV output has one row per affected element, while HTML reports show rule details and expandable markup.

HOW TO USE

Install Node.js 20+ and npm, run npm install, install Playwright Chromium with npx playwright install chromium if needed, then run the sample server and smoke test. Point the scanner at one or more HTTP/HTTPS pages in a development or test environment you are authorized to assess. Internet is needed for dependency/browser installation; the target server must be reachable. Reporting is local. Windows, macOS and Linux require compatible Playwright prerequisites.

TESTED EXAMPLE

The supplied smoke test ran real browser scans. It found four axe violation rule types across nine affected nodes in the broken fixture and zero automated violations in the corrected fixture in the tested page state. These are fixture results, not customer outcomes or a guarantee for your store.

HUMAN CHECKS

Use twelve manual checks for keyboard navigation, focus, shopping interactions, zoom/reflow, contrast, errors and a screen-reader spot check. The guide explains user impact, engineering fixes and verification approaches.

IMPORTANT LIMITS

This is not WCAG certification, a full accessibility audit, legal advice or a compliance guarantee. Automated tests detect only some issues in the rendered state. Zero findings never proves full accessibility. The runner does not crawl an entire store, authenticate, complete checkout, judge alternative-text quality or replace assistive-technology testing. No installation service or audit service is included.

Does a clean scan certify compliance? No: manual and qualified review remain necessary.

Are dependencies included? Source and locked dependency definitions are included, not node_modules or browser binaries; install the free prerequisites first.

Can I use this commercially? The single-buyer license permits internal and commercial client projects, but not resale, publication, sublicensing or redistribution of this source bundle as a standalone product.
