Lesson Plan Templates and Teacher Planners for 2026

Teachers do not buy templates to decorate. They buy them to get an evening back. A ready lesson plan with timings, a planner that already has the gradebook and the seating chart in it, a classroom game you can put on the projector tomorrow: each one replaces hours of preparation. The difference between a template that saves that time and one that wastes it is easy to see once you know where to look. This guide covers lesson plans, teacher planners and interactive classroom materials. Printable worksheets for children have their own guide: printable worksheets for kids and classrooms.

What the teacher shelves hold today

We measured the Education Templates, Lesson Plans and Teacher Planners shelves on Getly on 29 October 2026. Together they hold 98 active listings. The middle half of prices sits between $2.50 and $9.97, with a median of $4.58, so most resources cost less than a coffee and a sandwich. About half deliver a PDF, roughly a quarter deliver JPG images (mostly classroom posters and charts), and only a small share ship editable PowerPoint files. The shelf is mixed, honestly: next to real lesson plans you will find general ebooks that landed in the wrong category, so read the description and the file list before you add anything to the cart.

One number deserves attention: 69.4% of listings on these shelves state no licence. For a teacher that matters more than for most buyers, because you may want to share a resource with a colleague or use it across several classes. Where the licence is missing, message the seller first.

What a good lesson plan template contains

  • A clear learner and level. "A2 to B1 adults, one-to-one" or "kindergarten, ages 4 to 6" tells you in one line whether it fits.
  • Timings for every stage. Warm-up, input, practice, production, review, with minutes next to each. The best plans also give a shorter route for when the class runs late.
  • Learner materials included. A plan without handouts means you still have to make the handouts.
  • Teacher notes. Expected answers, common mistakes, how to adapt for a weaker group.
  • What comes next. A single lesson is useful; a sequence that tells you what to teach next is worth more.

What to check in a teacher planner

  • Undated or dated. Undated pages let you start in any month and reuse the planner next year. Dated planners are nicer to look at, but they expire.
  • Paper size. US Letter and A4 both included means it prints correctly wherever you are.
  • The boring pages. Gradebook, attendance, parent contact log, substitute teacher page. These are the pages you actually use every week.
  • Black and white printing. A planner that only looks good in colour gets expensive on the school printer.
  • Page count that matches the files. A "100-page planner" delivered as a tiny file is worth a second look before you pay.

How to combine them

A classroom teacher gets the most from the planner first: it organises everything else. ESL tutors who work one-to-one should start with Your First 3 Lessons for a new student and move to Everyday English at Work once the learner's goals are clear; the two guides share a structure, so they fit together. Preschool and kindergarten teachers can pair the cut-and-paste pages for table time with the picture quiz for circle time, and use the game maker to build quizzes around the week's own vocabulary.

Licences for classroom use, in plain words

  • Personal usually means you, in your own classroom. Sharing the file with a colleague needs their own copy.
  • Commercial or extended usually allows wider use, for example in a tutoring business. It still rarely allows reselling the file.
  • No licence stated: ask. A one-line message saves an awkward conversation later.
  • Printing for your own students is the normal use of a printable resource; uploading the PDF to a public site is not.
