Black Friday 2026 is on Friday, 27 November, and Cyber Monday on 30 November. If you want to run a sale on your Getly store, a coupon is the quickest way: one code you share with your audience, a discount you control, and an end date that switches it off on time. This tutorial walks through the coupon form field by field, shows what buyers see in the cart, and explains how your earnings are calculated on a discounted order.
One thing to know first: coupons on Getly always belong to a seller. Getly no longer issues platform-wide promo codes, so every discount a buyer uses is one that a seller created for their own products.
Step 1: open the Coupons page
In your seller dashboard, open Coupons in the sidebar (it sits in the Marketing group). You need a store to use it; if you do not have one yet, the page offers Create Your Store first. The page lists your existing codes with their status (Active, Inactive, Expired or Limit reached), how many times each was used, and a summary of all your coupons.
Click Create Coupon to open the form.
Step 2: choose the code
Type the code buyers will enter, for example BLACKFRIDAY25. A few rules apply:
- Codes are stored in capital letters. Whatever you type is shown in upper case, and buyers can type it in any case.
- No spaces. The form strips them as you type, because a code with a space is hard to type back correctly on a phone.
- Up to 50 characters.
- Each code must be unique in your store. If you used
BF2025last year, pick a new one or delete the old code first.
Short and easy to type wins. A buyer will often read the code in a story or a post and type it on a phone.
Step 3: percentage or fixed amount
Under Discount Type pick one of two:
- Percentage (%): a whole number from 1 to 100. A 25% coupon takes 25% off the price of each of your products in the cart.
- Fixed Amount ($): a dollar amount with cents, for example 5.00. It comes off your products' subtotal in the order once, not once per item, and it can never take the total below zero.
Then enter the value. Which to choose? A percentage scales with the cart and reads well in a headline ("25% off everything"). A fixed amount works better when your prices vary a lot and you want to cap what each discount costs you, especially together with a minimum order.
Step 4: usage limit, minimum order and expiry
All three fields are optional, and all three are worth setting for a time-limited sale.
- Max Uses: how many orders may use the code in total. Leave it empty for unlimited. A limit like 100 turns the code into a "first 100 orders" offer. When the limit is reached, the coupon shows Limit reached and the cart refuses it.
- Minimum order: the smallest subtotal of your products in the cart for the code to work, in dollars. Useful with a fixed amount: "$10 off orders over $40".
- Expiry Date: pick the last day the code should work. The coupon stays valid through the whole chosen day and stops at 23:59 UTC. For a Black Friday to Cyber Monday sale, choose 30 November. If your buyers are mostly in the Americas, keep in mind that 23:59 UTC is the afternoon or early evening of the same day there.
Click Create Coupon. The new code appears in your list as Active straight away.
Step 5: decide when it starts
The form has an end date but no start date: a coupon works from the moment it is created. To prepare your Black Friday code in advance, create it now and turn it off with the switch on its card. On the morning of 27 November, flip the switch back on. Switching a coupon off does not delete it, so its usage count is kept.
After the sale you can leave it to expire, switch it off, or delete it with the bin icon. Deleting cannot be undone.
Which products does the coupon cover?
There is no product picker in the coupon form. A coupon covers every product from your store in the buyer's cart, with one exception: items bought as part of a bundle, which already carry their own discount, are not discounted again. In a cart with products from several sellers, your code only reduces your products. Another seller's items keep their price.
If you want a deal on just one product, a coupon is the wrong tool; a code shared for "the template pack" will also discount anything else of yours in the same cart. Plan your announcement with that in mind, or make the offer store-wide on purpose.
What buyers see in the cart
- The buyer adds your products to the cart.
- In the cart there is a Coupon code field. They type your code and press Apply.
- If the code works, the cart confirms it with the discount and your store name, and the total updates. If not, a message explains that the code does not exist, has expired or has reached its limit. A cart below your minimum order is refused as well, so put the minimum in your announcement ("$10 off orders over $40") rather than leaving buyers to guess.
- They pay as usual: by card (with Apple Pay or Google Pay where available) or in USDT or USDC.
Two details that save support messages:
- One coupon per order. Applying a second code replaces the first.
- No account needed. Guests can apply your code and check out with the discount.
How your earnings work with a coupon
Your share is calculated on the price after the discount, the price the buyer actually paid. The Getly fee is a percentage of that same discounted price, so a discount reduces Getly's fee in proportion too. Example for a $20 product with a 25% coupon:
| Without coupon | With BLACKFRIDAY25 | |
|---|---|---|
| Buyer pays | $20.00 | $15.00 |
| You keep (80%) | $16.00 | $12.00 |
| Getly fee (20%) | $4.00 | $3.00 |
80% is the standard rate. If the buyer arrives through your own link, a Pay Widget on your site or your Telegram store, the fee on that sale is 10% and you keep 90% of the discounted price: $13.50 in the example. Your own store link is in the "Your rate" card on the Earnings & Payouts page of your dashboard; put it next to the code when you announce the sale. Sellers with higher volume in the previous month may be on a lower tier, shown on the same page. On very small card orders, roughly under $6, a minimum fee that covers card processing can apply instead of the percentage, so very deep discounts on cheap products earn you less than the simple maths suggests.
Earnings from Black Friday orders go out with the regular payouts on the 1st and 15th, in USDT or USDC.
Checklist before 27 November
- Create the code, set Max Uses if you want a limit, and set the expiry to 30 November.
- Switch it off until the morning of the sale, then switch it on.
- Test it: add one of your products to the cart and apply the code to see the discount.
- Planning new products for the sale? Every new listing is reviewed before it goes live, usually within a few hours, so publish them several days ahead.
- Announce the code with your own store link.
- On 1 December, check the usage count on the Coupons page and delete or keep the code.
