Pitch Deck Templates 2026: How to Choose One for Investors

A pitch deck template is one of the cheapest things a founder buys and one of the most expensive to get wrong. A bad one costs you a weekend of fighting pasted images, broken fonts and charts that cannot be edited, and then it still looks like every other deck in the investor's inbox. A good one gives you the right slide order, real slide masters and charts that update when you type a number. This guide is written for the moment you are about to pay: what to check, what a good template contains, what to avoid, and which templates on Getly are worth opening.

What the shelf looks like today

We measured the startup, pitch deck and presentation shelves on Getly on 29 October 2026. Together they hold 69 active listings. Paid templates on this shelf sit between $4.99 and $14.99 for the middle half, with a median of $10, so you do not need to spend $50 to get a professional deck. The formats tell you more than the prices: 56.5% of listings ship a ZIP archive, 23.2% ship a PDF, and only a small share ship a bare .pptx file. That matters, because a PDF is a preview, not an editable deck. Before you buy, read the file list on the product page and make sure there is a .pptx, a .key or a working Canva or Google Slides link.

Licences on this shelf are mostly generous: just over half of the listings carry an extended licence and about 16% a commercial one. Roughly a quarter state no licence at all, and that is where you should ask the seller a question before you pay.

The ten slides an investor expects

Every serious seed deck follows the same skeleton, and a template that fights it will slow you down. When you open the preview images, look for these slides, in roughly this order:

  1. Cover with company name and a one-line description of what you do.
  2. Problem: who hurts, and how much.
  3. Solution: what you built, in one picture.
  4. How it works or product screenshots.
  5. Market size: a TAM / SAM / SOM chart you can edit.
  6. Business model and pricing, ideally with unit economics.
  7. Traction: a line or bar chart that is native, not a picture.
  8. Competition: a matrix or comparison table.
  9. Team with picture placeholders.
  10. The ask and use of funds.

Templates with 30 or 40 slides are not better by default. They are useful when you also need a sales deck, a demo-day version and an appendix, but for a first investor meeting ten to fifteen slides is the norm, and extra layouts mostly help you build the appendix.

Checklist before you pay

  • Native charts. The description should say the charts are editable ("Edit Data" in PowerPoint). If the traction chart is a pasted image, you will redraw it.
  • Slide masters. Real master layouts let you add a new slide in one click and keep the design consistent.
  • Picture placeholders. "Change Picture" should keep size and crop.
  • Fonts. Free Google Fonts such as Inter or Poppins travel well between PowerPoint, Keynote and Google Slides. Paid fonts you do not own will be replaced and break the layout.
  • Colour themes. Recolouring through theme colours takes seconds; recolouring shape by shape takes an evening.
  • Licence. For your own company deck, personal or single-business commercial use is enough. If you are an agency building decks for clients, you need a licence that allows client work.
  • Speaker notes. The best templates tell you what goes on each slide. That alone can save you a draft.

Pitch deck and presentation templates on Getly worth a look

We picked these because each one has a clear file list, a real description of what is inside and a stated licence. Prices are as listed on 29 October 2026.

TemplateWhat you getPrice
Investor Pitch Deck Template, 10 slides.pptx with the classic seed order, native charts, TAM/SAM/SOM, unit economics, speaker notes per slide, single-business commercial licence$24
Vertex Business Pitch Deck20 slides, 13 master layouts, 3 colour themes, editable charts and tables, free Google Fonts$3.99
Pitch & Portfolio BundleVertex plus a 15-slide editorial portfolio deck, 35 slides and 6 colour themes in total$5.99
Professional Investor Pitch Deck, 40 slidesCanva link and .pptx, financial projections, competitor analysis, extended licence$17
Meeting Recap PowerPoint Pack10 decks for board updates, client updates, kickoffs and retros, pre-filled with a worked example$19
Vetlyst Side Project Validation TrackerA spreadsheet that runs your idea through a constraint filter, a saturation check and a three-scenario financial model before you build the deck$19.99

Which one to choose depends on where you are. If you are raising a seed round and want the structure decided for you, the 10-slide investor deck with speaker notes is the most direct path. If you want a modern look on a tight budget and are happy to arrange the story yourself, Vertex covers every slide type an investor expects for the price of a coffee. Founders who already raised and now report to a board will get more from the meeting recap pack than from yet another pitch deck. And if you are still unsure whether the idea deserves a deck at all, the validation tracker is the honest first purchase.

Mistakes that make a template look cheap

  • Leaving the demo numbers. Investors notice "$2.4M ARR" placeholders more often than founders think.
  • Mixing two templates. Two type scales and two icon styles in one deck read as unfinished.
  • Too much text. A slide is not a page. If a slide needs a paragraph, move it to the notes or the appendix.
  • Exporting with missing fonts. Always send a PDF next to the editable file, so the deck looks the same on every screen.
