This book is a historical investigation of the Revigator, radioactive water, the medical ideas surrounding radioactivity during the early twentieth century, and the health claims made by manufacturers and promoters.

The book distinguishes between historical claims, documented historical facts, modern scientific measurements, and conclusions that cannot currently be established.

Nothing in this book is medical advice.

Radioactive substances can be hazardous. This book does not recommend drinking radioactive water, using radioactive materials, or reproducing historical Revigator practices.

The purpose of this work is historical:

What did people believe?

What did the manufacturers claim?

What was actually inside the Revigator?

What did people drink?

What radioactive substances were involved?

What evidence exists for health benefits?

What evidence exists for harm?

And, perhaps most importantly:

What do we actually know?
