This book is an independent work of critical inquiry.

It does not claim that every disputed interpretation surrounding September 11, 2001, is correct. It does not assert that an alternative explanation has been conclusively established where the available evidence does not establish one.

Instead, the purpose of this book is to distinguish between:

DOCUMENTED FACT — supported by primary records or authoritative investigations.

DOCUMENTED DISPUTE — a genuine disagreement concerning evidence or interpretation.

PLAUSIBLE QUESTION — an unresolved issue that merits further examination.

SPECULATION — an interpretation for which sufficient evidence has not been established.

COINCIDENCE / SYMBOLISM — numerical, temporal, or cultural associations that may be interesting but do not independently demonstrate causation.

The reader should therefore resist two opposite temptations: accepting every official statement without examination, and accepting every alternative theory merely because it challenges an official statement.

The standard throughout this book is simple:

What is known?
What is disputed?
What is inferred?
And what remains unknown?
