Black Friday falls on Friday, 27 November 2026, and Cyber Monday on 30 November. If you run a small shop, a course or a service, that leaves about four weeks to plan the posts, the stories, the banner on your site and the email that announces the sale. A template pack saves most of that time. A bad one costs it back: the wrong size for the platform, a font you do not own, or a "Canva template" that turns out to be a flat PNG.
This guide is about buying the right pack for a sale campaign and getting it ready before the week itself. We looked at what sellers on Getly actually ship in the three categories where sale graphics live: Social Media Templates, Canva Templates and Web Elements. All numbers were measured in October 2026 on active listings.
What the template shelf looks like
Those three categories hold 253 active listings. They are inexpensive: the median paid price is $3.00, and the middle half of paid listings sits between $3.00 and $8.00. Only 2.0% are free. One store holds about 38% of the shelf, so it is worth scrolling past the first page to see other styles.
What the listings say they are built for:
- Instagram is mentioned by 54.9% of listings, by far the most common target.
- Stories or Reels (vertical formats): 25.7%.
- Canva: 23.3% name it in the title or description.
- Photoshop or PSD: 13.8%.
- Figma: 1.6%, so if your team works in Figma, expect to search a bit or rebuild from a PSD.
Few listings are named for Black Friday itself. That is normal: a good sale kit is an editable social pack where you change the headline to "Black Friday", the colors to your brand and the price to yours. A handful of listings are made for the season directly, for example the Black Friday and Cyber Monday Launch Kit 2026 with prompts for emails, ads and landing pages, and the Merry Margin Holiday Sale Planner for planning discounts and margins before you announce them.
Sizes per platform: check before you buy
A template made at the wrong size gets cropped, and on a sale post the crop usually cuts the one thing that matters: the price or the end date. These are the sizes the platforms document (checked on the official help pages on 26 October 2026):
| Placement | Size | Ratio |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram feed post | 1080 px wide, up to 1080 x 1350 | between 1.91:1 and 4:5 |
| Instagram Story or Reel | 1080 x 1920 | 9:16 |
| Pinterest standard Pin | 1000 x 1500 | 2:3 |
Instagram scales anything wider than 1080 pixels down to 1080, so a 4000-pixel template does not look sharper in the feed, it just weighs more. Pinterest warns that Pins taller than 2:3 can be cut off in the feed. For stories, keep text and the price away from the top and bottom edges, where the profile bar and the reply field sit.
For a website banner and an email header there is no platform rule, so check the size your site theme or email tool expects. Most email builders lay content out at roughly 600 pixels wide, so a header designed at 1200 pixels wide (twice that, for sharp screens) is a safe start. Ask the seller if the listing does not say.
A complete Black Friday kit covers at least three shapes: square or 4:5 for the feed, 9:16 for stories, and one wide banner. If a pack only has squares, you will be resizing by hand the night before.
Editable or not: Canva, PSD and flat images
The file type tells you how much you can change. On this shelf, 49.0% of listings deliver a zip, 29.6% a PDF, and the rest single PNG or JPEG images, plus a few PowerPoint files.
- Canva templates usually arrive as a PDF with a link. You click it, Canva makes a copy in your account, and every text, color and photo is editable. This is the fastest route if you do not use design software.
- PSD files (in a zip) are fully editable in Photoshop, with layers for text, shapes and smart objects. Check that the listing says the text layers are live, not rasterized.
- PNG or JPEG are finished images. You can add text on top, but you cannot change what is already printed on them. They are fine for backgrounds, stickers and frames, not for a ready sale post.
- SVG scales without blur and edits in Illustrator, Figma, Inkscape or Canva.
Look at the preview images: a good listing shows the template itself, and ideally the editor with the layers. A styled mockup on a phone tells you how it could look, not what you get.
Fonts and Canva Pro elements
Fonts are the most common surprise. A PSD often uses fonts that are not inside the file. When you open it, Photoshop replaces them with a default, and your bold "BLACK FRIDAY" turns into Arial. A careful seller lists the fonts and links where to get them, preferably free ones such as Google Fonts. If the listing is silent, ask before buying.
Canva templates have a similar catch: some designs use Pro elements or Pro fonts. On a free Canva account those are watermarked or have to be swapped. Look for "works with free Canva" in the description if you do not pay for Canva Pro.
The license: can you use it for a business?
A Black Friday post sells something, so it is commercial use of the template. Read the license before you post. On this shelf, 47.4% of listings carry a personal license in the license field, 14.6% commercial, 4.0% extended, and about 31% leave the field empty.
For social templates, "personal use" is often written loosely and many sellers mean "you can use it for your own business, but you cannot resell the template". That is a reasonable reading, but get it in writing. Check two things:
- Can you use the edited design to promote your own products or clients? (Most sale kits allow this.)
- Can you resell or share the editable template itself? (Almost never.)
On Getly you can message the seller from the product page before you buy. A one-line question saves a takedown later.
Plan the week, not just the post
A sale campaign is a short sequence, and the template pack should cover each step:
- Teaser, one week out: "Something is coming on 27 November".
- Launch day: the main offer, price or percentage, and the end date.
- Reminder: a story or two halfway through.
- Last chance: Cyber Monday or the final evening.
- Email header and a site banner in the same style.
If you sell your own products, a content calendar helps keep the dates straight, for example this 12-month content calendar for Google Sheets. For the posts themselves, look at complete brand kits such as the Velora Coffee House Brand Identity and Social Media Kit (57 editable Canva templates), carousel sets like The Faceless Creator Carousel Pack, or printed promo pieces like the Small Business Promo Poster Kit with 20 editable Canva templates.
