See what each handmade product really earns once you've paid for materials, packaging, your time, shipping and marketplace fees. It also works out the price you'd need to hit your target margin.

What's inside

• Fees sheet: you enter every fee yourself. That covers the listing fee, transaction %, payment processing % + fixed, offsite ads % and currency conversion %, plus one optional extra % and one optional extra fixed fee. It comes pre-filled with example values in a typical "Etsy-style" fee structure. These are not official figures, and fees change, so check every number on your platform's current fee page.

• Materials sheet (up to 500 rows): qty × unit cost, totalled per product automatically. Product IDs must match exactly; upper and lower case are treated as the same.

• Products sheet (up to 100 products): packaging, labor hours × your hourly rate, the shipping you pay and the shipping you charge. It works out:

  • total cost, platform fees and net profit

  • margin % on the buyer's total, and margin on the item price alone

  • the break-even price

  • the suggested price for your target margin, solved exactly (both % and fixed fees included) and rounded up to the cent

• Built-in checks: every row shows OK or CHECK. A row is flagged for a missing or zero price, a negative or text entry, a fee over 100%, a duplicate or invalid ID, or a target margin your fees make impossible. You also get:

  • one overall status cell

  • a "table full" notice

  • a warning when anything is typed below a table

  • a formula check that flags grey (automatic) cells that were deleted, or typed over with a different value

• Start Here sheet with instructions. The sample rows are clearly marked SAMPLE DATA, and clearing them leaves every check showing OK.

How the math works:

• Buyer total = price + shipping charged.

• Fees = buyer total × total % + fixed fees.

• Net profit = buyer total − fees − costs.

• Margin = net profit ÷ buyer total.

File format: .xlsx and .ods, no macros. Tested in Google Sheets (File > Import) and LibreOffice Calc; Excel not tested yet.

Limitations:

• One set of fees at a time (one platform per copy).

• Not included: income tax, sales tax/VAT, refunds, discounts, or ad spend beyond the fees you enter.

• If your prices include VAT, enter them without it, or profit will be overstated.

• Fee caps (such as a maximum offsite-ads fee per order) aren't modelled.

• Don't insert or delete rows.
