Thanksgiving is on Thursday, 26 November 2026. Printables are the small things that make a table look planned: place cards with names, a menu by the plates, a trivia game for the long gap before dessert, coloring pages that keep the kids' table quiet, and a gratitude card for each guest. They cost a few dollars, print at home in an evening, and you can use them again next year.
The file matters more than the design. A menu laid out for US Letter prints with a cut-off edge on A4, a place card that looked crisp on screen comes out soft, and a game bought "for personal use" may not be meant for a whole classroom. This guide covers what to check before you buy and how to print without wasting card stock.
We looked at the Thanksgiving shelf on Getly. All numbers below were measured in October 2026 on active listings that mention Thanksgiving in the name, tags or description.
What the Thanksgiving shelf looks like
There are 36 active Thanksgiving listings. The median paid price is $3.50, the middle half of paid listings costs between $3.00 and $4.99, and 2.8% are free. One store holds about 39% of the shelf, so the rest is worth a scroll for other styles.
What they offer, by what the listings mention:
- Coloring pages: 25.0% of listings, mostly adult-style line art, plus kids' activity packs.
- Games such as trivia and bingo: 16.7%.
- Place cards or menus: 13.9%.
- Gratitude or "thankful" sheets: 13.9%.
- Plus seasonal wall art, host planners and sign-up sheets.
Pick the right kind of printable
Place cards and menus. These are the most visible pieces on the table, so they need to match. A good set gives you editable names (a PDF with fillable fields or a Canva link) rather than a blank card you write on by hand. The Friends' Thanksgiving Dinner Sign-Up Sheet and Party Planner bundles an invite, RSVP, cost split and place cards, and the Thanksgiving Host Planner with Kids' Table Activity Pack adds a menu and seating plan.
Games. A printed game works better than a phone game when three generations sit at one table. Look for an answer key and enough copies per page for your guest count, like the Thanksgiving Party Games for Adults with trivia, an answer key and "find someone who" bingo.
Coloring pages. For children, thick outlines and big shapes. For adults, fine detail. The shelf leans adult: examples include a Art Deco cornucopia, a retro 70s leaves and gourds page and a Scandinavian folk art rooster. For younger kids, an activity pack such as Pip and Hazel's Harvest Table Fun Pack (ages 3 to 10) mixes coloring with simple puzzles.
Planning sheets. The cook usually needs these more than the guests: a count-back cooking timeline with a turkey thaw chart, a potluck sign-up sheet with allergy notes, or a grocery budget worksheet. Print the thaw chart this week: a large frozen turkey needs several days in the fridge.
Paper size: Letter or A4
This is the most common reason a printable looks wrong. US Letter is 8.5 by 11 inches; A4 is 210 by 297 mm, slightly narrower and taller. On this shelf, 66.7% of listings mention Letter and 50.0% mention A4. In other words, half of the shelf does not mention A4 at all.
- Outside the US with a Letter-only file? Choose Fit to page (or "Scale to fit") in the print dialog. The design shrinks a few percent and nothing gets cut.
- For place cards and tent cards that must fold to an exact size, choose Actual size (100%) instead and print one test sheet first. Fold it, stand it on the table, and only then print the rest.
- Check the margin: many home printers cannot print to the very edge. A design with a full-bleed background will show a thin white frame. That is normal, and a trim with scissors or a paper cutter fixes it.
Printing at home
- Paper weight. Place cards and menus look far better on card stock, around 200 to 250 g/m² (roughly 65 to 90 lb cover). Check your printer manual for the heaviest stock it takes; many home inkjets feed card stock only from the rear tray.
- Resolution. 47.2% of the Thanksgiving listings state 300 DPI, which is what you want for crisp text at small sizes. A PDF keeps its quality at any zoom; a PNG needs enough pixels for the size you print.
- Ink. Coloring pages and line art use very little. Dark full-page backgrounds use a lot; if a design has a "light" version, use it for the kids' table copies.
- Print shop. For 20 or more menus, a local print shop on heavier paper often costs about the same as your ink, and the cut is cleaner. Send them the PDF, not a screenshot.
Format on this shelf: 55.6% of listings deliver a PDF and 44.4% a zip (usually a PDF plus PNG files, or several sizes). If the description does not list what is inside, ask the seller from the product page.
The license: home, classroom, or selling
Most Thanksgiving printables are licensed for personal use: 77.8% of listings on this shelf set that license, 8.3% allow commercial use. Personal use covers your own table and your own family. Two cases need a closer look:
- Classroom or community event. Printing a set of coloring pages for 25 pupils, or a game for a church or library dinner, is not clearly "personal". Only 5.6% of listings mention classrooms or teachers at all. If that is your plan, message the seller before buying; many allow it for a single classroom, but you want it in writing.
- Selling printed copies. Printing the design onto cards and selling them at a fair needs a commercial license. A personal license never covers it.
Gratitude printables
A small card at each plate with "I am thankful for..." gives quiet guests an easy way to join the conversation. Gratitude journals work too, for example a 90-day gratitude journal printable if you want to keep the habit after the holiday. For decor, seasonal prints such as the harvest botanical print with wheat and berries frame well on a sideboard.
