Restaurant Prompts: Menus, Reviews and the Posts That Fill Tables

September 30, 2026

Restaurants do not need more marketing ideas - they need the same six jobs done every week without pulling the owner off the floor. Twelve prompts cover them.

The 12 prompts

1. Menu description. Write a menu description for [dish] in 10 words or fewer: what it is, the standout ingredient, the preparation. No adjectives every other dish could use.

2. Menu redesign. Take this menu [paste]: group it the way people order, flag the 3 dishes nobody buys that could go, and mark 2 items worth a higher margin.

3. Google Business post. Write a 150-word Google Business post about [offer/event/new dish]: what it is, when it runs, one reason to come this week.

4. Reply to a bad review. Write a calm reply to a 2-star review about [issue]: acknowledge, say what changed, invite them back. No 'we take this seriously' boilerplate.

5. Reply to a good review. Write a 3-sentence reply to a 5-star review naming the dish and the server they mentioned.

6. Review ask. Write the line on the table tent / receipt that gets reviews: short, specific, points at Google, no guilt.

7. Weekly specials post. Turn this week's specials [list] into 3 social posts and 1 SMS, each with a reason to come in tonight.

8. Event night. Plan a quiet-Tuesday event: concept, the offer, the post, the invite to regulars. Something the kitchen can actually deliver.

9. Catering enquiry. Answer this catering enquiry [paste]: availability, what travels well, price range, next step. Reply in under 200 words, same day feel.

10. Staff message. Write the pre-shift note for tonight: the 2 dishes to push, the 86'd item, the reservation pressure, one thank-you.

11. Loyalty nudge. Write a message to customers who have not visited in 60 days: one thing that changed since, one reason to return, no discount first.

12. Month in numbers. Given covers, average spend, and top dishes [paste], tell me what to promote next month and what to quietly retire.

Say what is on the plate

"Grilled octopus, charred lemon, chili oil" sells; "exquisite culinary journey" does not. Diners are scanning for ingredients and preparation - give them the words they already have in their head.
