How Much Do You Actually Make on Etsy? The $/Hour Math Most Sellers Never Do

Most Etsy sellers can tell you their revenue last month. Almost none can tell you what they earned per hour — and that's the number that decides whether your side hustle is a business or a hobby with paperwork.

THE FEE STACK NOBODY ADDS UP

Etsy's headline fee is 6.5%. The real stack: Listing fee $0.20 per listing; Transaction fee 6.5% of the total (including shipping you charge); Payment processing 3% + $0.25 per order (US); Offsite Ads, if a sale comes through one: another 12–15%. On a typical order that's roughly 9.5% + $0.45 gone before materials — and it can pass 20% on an ad-driven sale. On 100 sales a month at $25, the base fees alone are about $283 a month.
