Why every dataset should ship with a free sample

You find a dataset that looks right. The listing promises 12,000 rows, cleaned columns, CSV format. You pay, download the zip, open it, and half the columns are empty. The dates use three different formats. The rows you needed were never in there. Now you are filing a refund request and the seller is writing a dispute reply, over a mismatch a 50-row preview would have settled in seconds.

That scenario is why the wallpaper, rent, NFL, Superteam, and Web3 spreadsheet packs each ship with a free sample. The order is flipped: you see the real data first, and the full file sits behind checkout.

In practice, the product page shows an actual slice of the file. A few rows of the listings CSV, or two complete image files, right there on the page, enough to judge the schema, the cleaning pass, and the format.

What to check while the sample is open in front of you:

  • Do the column names match what the listing describes?
  • How many values are empty, and does that match the promised row count?
  • Do IDs repeat or skip?
  • Are dates, currencies, and encodings consistent from row one?
  • A few minutes with the sample answers all four. If the schema fits your script, buy the full file knowing it parses. If a column is missing, close the tab and you have lost nothing. No purchase, no refund window, no review you did not want to write.

Sellers get as much out of this as buyers. Every visitor who checks a sample and walks away is a refund that never happened and a support thread that was never opened. Every buyer who checked first knows exactly what arrived, and those are the buyers who leave accurate reviews. The sample itself is searchable content, too. A preview showing real listing rows can rank for the exact queries people type when they need that data, so a product page doubles as a discovery surface.

Five packs in [the store](https://www.getly.store/store/matchbook-labs-mtrfh66f) ship a free download right now.

The [Superteam Earn free sample](https://www.getly.store/product/superteam-earn-free-sample-5-live-listings-csv-mtryl1pi) puts the first 5 listings from the 2026-09-04 harvest into one CSV: title, type, reward amount and token, reward range, deadline, status, sponsor, comment and submission counts, slug. You can point a parser at it, check the fields, and see the data quality before deciding on the [28-listing dataset](https://www.getly.store/product/superteam-earn-28-live-listings-dataset-186-reverse-engineered-api-routes-mtrfumk0).

The [crypto portfolio tracker sample](https://www.getly.store/product/free-crypto-portfolio-tracker-sample-multi-chain-holdings-sheet-csv-xlsx-mtz9b6yv) hands over one template from the [Web3 spreadsheet pack](https://www.getly.store/product/web3-kpi-spreadsheet-pack-5-google-sheets-excel-templates-multi-chain-mtrlvtk8). Six dummy positions cover Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Base, and Arbitrum, and the sheet works out cost basis, current value, profit and loss, and each position's share of the book. Nothing pulls live prices, so you can test the formulas before typing your own numbers.

The wallpaper line works the same with images. The [free sample pack](https://www.getly.store/product/dark-wallpaper-pack-vol-3-free-sample-2-wallpapers-1920x1080-mtrykrp1) carries 2 complete wallpapers at 1920x1080, the resolution the pack's 4K files were generated at, so you can judge the style on your own monitor instead of trusting a compressed thumbnail.

Those three samples are free downloads, and the full packs sit in the same store. If the schema fits, buy. If it does not, you found out for free. We would rather lose a sale than argue about a refund.
