SaaS Launch Week Prompts: Changelog, Docs, Email and the Post That Follows

5 октября 2026 г.

Launch week is four kinds of writing at once, all due on the same day. Twelve prompts cover them, so the release note is not written at 1am.

The 12 prompts

1. Release note. Turn this change [paste] into a changelog entry users care about: what changed, why it matters, who it affects. No internal ticket language.

2. Launch announcement. Write the announcement post for [feature]: what it does, who asked for it, one real example, one CTA. 120 words, no "we're thrilled".

3. Docs page. Write user-facing docs for [feature]: what it does, when to use it, steps with screenshot placeholders, two common mistakes, one troubleshooting line. Grade-8 level.

4. Empty states. Write the copy for an empty [screen]: what it is for, the one action to take, and a link to the docs. Two sentences max.

5. Onboarding email. Draft a 4-email onboarding sequence: activate the one behaviour that predicts retention, one feature per email, a real deadline on the last one.

6. Founder launch email. Write the launch email from the founder: why we built it, the problem it removes, what it costs, one honest caveat. 150 words, plain text, one CTA.

7. Product Hunt / directory copy. Write the tagline, first comment and 60-word description for a directory listing: what it is, who it is for, one proof point, no superlatives.

8. Cold outreach. 10 short emails to [role] at [type] company: 60 words, one specific observation about their setup, one low-friction ask. No follow-up threats.

9. Comparison section. A fair [us vs competitor] block: where they win, where we win, who should pick which. Honest reads better and converts better.

10. Pricing FAQ. Write the 8 pricing questions buyers ask before buying: plans, seats, trials, refunds, cancellation, data export, support, invoice. Two sentences each.

11. Bug note. Write the incident update for [issue]: what happened, who was affected, what we fixed, what changes so it does not recur. Calm, no legal hedging.

12. Launch retro. Given these numbers [signups, trials, activation, churn], tell me which channel earned its slot, where the funnel leaks, and the one thing to fix before the next launch.

Write the docs while the code is fresh

The launch content that ages best is the boring half: docs, changelog, pricing FAQ. Users forgive a loud announcement; they do not forgive a feature they cannot work out. Draft those four first, then the email and the posts.
