Kolam is a South Indian folk art drawn as one unbroken line that loops around a grid of dots. Quilters have long done the same thing: one continuous line, no stops. This pack turns kolam line art into six edge-to-edge (E2E) pantographs for computerised longarm machines.

THE 6 DESIGNS (as drawn; scale them in your software)

1. Sikku Weave 3: a woven diamond lattice with kolam loops along the edges. 12.3 × 6.8 in.

2. Sikku Weave 5 Dense: a deeper lattice for heavy texture. 9.3 × 9.7 in.

3. Kolam Hearts: a small knot that reads as linked hearts. 6.3 × 7.0 in.

4. Double Pulli Loops: a big loop followed by a small loop. 12 × 2.8 in.

5. Pulli Loops: a beginner-friendly loop chain that stitches fast. 12 × 2.2 in.

6. Manga Paisley Loops: loops that swell and shrink like a paisley (mango) chain. 12 × 3.0 in.

HOW THE REPEATS WORK

Each repeat is one stitch line. It starts at (0,0) and ends at the same height one repeat-width along, so the repeats chain across a row. The lattice designs look best with rows staggered by half a repeat and nested slightly, as shown in the preview images.

HONEST NOTE

I generate every file from one exact stitch path and check it with automated tests: an independent open-source QLI parser, a DXF reader, and coordinate round-trips to within 0.001 in. The designs have NOT been test-stitched on a physical longarm. Please preview each one in your quilting software and stitch a test row on scrap fabric before you quilt a customer's quilt. The pack does not include HQF, IQP, PAT, SSD or CQP files. Most of those machines import QLI or DXF, so check your import menu before you buy.

LICENSE

You can stitch these designs on unlimited quilts, including quilts you sell and paid customer quilting. You can't resell, share or upload the digital files in any form.
