Most beat sales fall apart at one question: what am I allowed to do with this? Here is the plain-language version, without the legal theatre.
The two things a licence decides
How many songs you can release with the beat, and how many streams or sales those songs can reach before you need a bigger tier.
Everything else — file format, stems, whether the beat is untagged — is delivery, not licensing.
Non-exclusive vs exclusive
A non-exclusive lease lets you release one song while the producer licenses the same beat to others.
An exclusive takes the beat off the market for everyone else. It costs more because the producer gives up future sales.
Why the paperwork matters
A written licence is what a distributor, a label or a Content ID claim will ask for. A screenshot of a DM will not settle a claim.
Where this comes from
If you want the price ladder and a licence-tier template you can reuse for every beat you buy or sell:
