Platform fees: what Etsy really takes from a $25 sale

5. Oktober 2026

Every marketplace seller eventually does this math. Here is exactly what happens to a $25 sale on Etsy, with the numbers for 2026.

The fees on a standard $25 listing: 6.5% transaction fee = $1.63, payment processing = $1.00 ($0.25 plus 3% of $25), $0.20 listing fee. Total: $2.83, and you keep $22.17 - that is 88.7% of the sale. The numbers above were calculated for 2026; check the current fee page before you rely on them.

Three things make this worse in real life. Offsite Ads adds 12-15% on top of the sale when Etsy brings the buyer. Currency conversion takes around 2.5% on non-USD payouts. And fees stack on the amount you charge for shipping too, not just the item price.

The 4 numbers to check every week: gross sales, total marketplace fees, effective fee percentage (fees divided by gross sales), and what is actually left per order after fees and shipping. If your effective fee percentage quietly climbs above 15%, your pricing is broken - not your product.

A $25 sale on Etsy with an Offsite Ads hit can keep you just $17.60. The same sale through your own channel costs a flat 10%. Know your real number before you set prices.
