Fractions Puzzle Club is a free 8-page printable for curious learners aged 9–12. Instead of repeating ordinary worksheet questions, children work through five different challenges that ask them to compare fractions, spot patterns, explain their thinking and make strategic choices.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

• Find the impostor: compare groups of fractions and pictures to identify the one that shows a different amount, then explain why.

• The domino loop: arrange six fraction cards so neighbouring ends show equivalent fractions and the loop connects correctly. It can be completed with cut-out cards or simply by writing the card letters in order.

• Who is right?: read two different explanations about fractions, decide which one makes sense and prove your choice with words or a picture.

• Make One: play a two-player strategy game using 1/8, 1/4 and 1/2 to build exactly one whole. A solo version is included too.

• Crack the code: solve fraction clues, match each answer to a letter and reveal a secret word.

• Hints and answers: pages 7–8 include hints, worked explanations, game notes and solutions, so learners can try independently before checking their thinking.

WHY IT HELPS

The activities encourage children to do more than choose an answer. They compare equivalent fractions, use visual models, explain why an idea works and explore different strategies.

The pack follows a simple Think • Try • Explain approach, giving learners space to reason rather than rush through questions.

HOW TO USE IT

Print the pack and work through the challenges in order or choose one puzzle at a time. Most activities work independently or with another person. The Make One activity is designed as a two-player game but also includes a solo challenge.

You only need a pencil and scrap paper. Scissors are optional for the domino activity, and adult help should be used if cutting is needed. The pages are designed for A4 printing and can also be printed on US Letter using “Fit”.

Suitable for children who are learning or reviewing fractions, especially equivalent fractions, fraction comparison and making one whole. It can be used at home, alongside schoolwork or as an extra maths challenge.
